Ark Childcare

The Ark has been operating for three decades as a vibrant hub where children can engage with, create, and experience ambitious art. Its core mission is to make art accessible to children of all backgrounds, encouraging them to explore creativity alongside play. By celebrating its 30th anniversary, the organisation emphasises a forward‑looking vision that aims to continue delivering imaginative, child‑centred programmes for the next generation. Through partnerships with schools, community groups and early years services, The Ark runs residencies in settings such as Darndale Belcamp Integrated Childcare Service and St Joseph’s Early Childhood Development Service. These placements allow the centre to extend its arts‑focused activities into a variety of childcare environments across the country, reinforcing its commitment to “arts for every child”. The emphasis is on collaborative, experiential learning that supports children’s social, emotional and cognitive development through creative expression. The Ark also organises family‑friendly events, such as the Moonlight Dream show for ages three to six, and participates in cultural festivals like Tradfest. These activities demonstrate a holistic approach that blends early years care with community arts engagement, offering children and families opportunities to experience culture, performance and creative play in an inclusive setting.
