Child Vision Pre- School

ChildVision is Ireland’s sole national service dedicated to children with visual impairment and additional disabilities. With a heritage spanning more than 150 years, the organisation delivers specialised education, therapy and residential care that empower children and young adults to reach their full potential. A multidisciplinary team provides tailored support such as braille literacy, assistive technology, occupational therapy and equine‑assisted activities, fostering confidence, independence and a love of learning. The centre operates five residential houses that are available from Sunday evening to Friday evening, offering young people aged 10‑23 a safe environment to develop independent living skills. For young adults aged 18‑23, the Pathways programme delivers a flexible life‑skills curriculum that can extend up to five years, while the Reading Services team transcribes thousands of textbooks each year into braille, large print, digital and tactile formats. Clinical vision services cater to children from birth to 18 years, providing expert assessment and intervention to differentiate typical development from visual‑related challenges. A newly‑opened indoor equine‑assisted activity centre further enriches therapeutic options for participants.
