Children's Language Development Project

Children’s Language Development Preschool (CLDP) is situated in Garraí Glas, Athenry, County Galway, and specialises in speech and language development for children aged two to six. The centre provides early‑intervention programmes for youngsters with communication delays or disorders, and attendance does not require a prior referral. CLDP runs four daily sessions: two dedicated autism‑focused sessions, funded through the Department of Education Home Tuition Scheme, operate for four hours each weekday, while two additional preschool sessions, lasting three hours each, are offered in the morning and afternoon for children with broader communication difficulties. The preschool’s philosophy centres on maximising each child’s ability to communicate and learn, with a strong emphasis on supporting families. Ongoing parent training ensures continuity of learning across home and school environments, and an open‑door policy promotes close collaboration with the Health Service Executive. This holistic approach aims to equip children with effective communication skills that support their transition into mainstream education.
