Heronswood Childcare Centre

Heronswood Childcare Centre is a family‑run, purpose‑built facility that offers a secure, nurturing and engaging environment for children from three months up to twelve years. Building on the legacy of First Steps Preschool (established in 1984), the centre opened in 2005 and follows the national quality frameworks Siolta and Aistear, ensuring that its programmes support the physical, emotional and intellectual development of every child. The centre’s vision is to continually improve its facilities and to deliver progressive, child‑centred programmes that foster curiosity, confidence and a love of learning. The centre is spacious and bright, with modern security measures including CCTV and a fingerprint‑controlled entry system for both levels of the building. Outdoor provision features a large, safety‑matted playground equipped with colourful play and climbing structures, as well as a sensory garden – the “Garden of Grace” – designed to stimulate the senses through a variety of plants, textures and colours. These facilities provide ample space for free movement, exploration and calm reflection, supporting a holistic approach to early childhood care and education.
