Juniors Childcare

Juniors Childcare is a playschool situated in Castlebar that provides early childhood care for children aged 2 years 8 months to 5 years. The centre can accommodate up to 44 children at any one time and operates Monday to Friday from 9 am to 2 pm, remaining open for 51 weeks of the year. The programme follows an emergent, play‑based curriculum informed by the national Aistear framework and incorporates Montessori principles, offering a balanced mix of practical life, sensorial, language, arithmetic, cultural and creative activities. Learning is organised into two ECCE groups with a staff‑to‑child ratio of 1:11, ensuring personalised attention and a safe, stimulating environment. The ethos of Juniors Childcare emphasises an “open‑door” policy and a “home from home” atmosphere, promoting sociability, equal opportunities and cultural diversity. Children are encouraged to develop confidence, fine and gross motor skills, concentration and independence through everyday tasks such as polishing shoes and exploratory projects. The centre aims to support holistic development—physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually—while fostering strong partnerships with parents.
