About
Kentstown Montessori School, founded in 1997, is a purpose‑built early years centre located in the heart of Kentstown, County Meath. Housed in Octave House on Somerville Road, the school provides a dedicated classroom and a secure outdoor area for children aged 2½ to 6 years. The setting offers a flexible early years sessional service, with younger children typically attending on a part‑time basis of two to three days per week, progressing to a full‑time five‑day week as they grow older. The centre is affiliated with the Department of Children and Youth Affairs and participates in the Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) Scheme, making two years of funded provision available to eligible families.
The school’s philosophy centres on holistic development, encouraging each child’s natural learning ability within an orderly, prepared environment that reflects the diversity of families and cultures. Emphasising Montessori principles, the programme promotes responsible freedom, inclusion and equal opportunities for all children regardless of ability, language, gender or ethnicity. Strong parent‑educator partnerships are fostered through regular information evenings, meetings, newsletters, social media and a dedicated messaging app, ensuring open communication and support for each child’s progress and wellbeing.
