Letterkenny Community Playgroup Childcare Centre CLG is a long‑standing community‑run service that has been providing playgroup provision for over four decades. Established as a sessional playgroup 41 years ago, the centre operates as a registered charity and not‑for‑profit organisation, adhering to the Siolta National Standards for quality early years provision. The centre has been recognised for its excellence, receiving the All‑Ireland Centre of Excellence Award in 2008 and 2011 and being shortlisted for the Donegal Enterprise Board Business of the Year Awards in 2013. Recent funding successes, including a €750,000 Building Block Grant and a bid for the AIB 1 Million Community Fund, support the development of a new purpose‑built facility. The centre offers a range of early childhood programmes across distinct age bands, including dedicated Baby care and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) classes such as Ladybugs, Giraffe, Rainbows and Busy Bee. In addition to full‑day provision, the centre runs two after‑school sessions (After School 1 and After School 2) and other childcare schemes to accommodate families’ varied needs. Operating Monday to Friday from 7.45 am to 5.45 pm, the centre is closed on bank holidays and for one week at Christmas, providing a reliable and community‑focused childcare option in Letterkenny.
