Little Eaton Montessori

Little Eaton Montessori is a sessional Montessori school situated in Shankill, offering a warm, home‑like environment for children aged 2½ to 5½ years. The centre operates from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm, with optional part‑time care extending to 1.30 pm. It can accommodate up to 20 children in a dedicated Montessori classroom staffed by two qualified teachers, providing a low‑student‑to‑teacher ratio and an inclusive atmosphere where families are welcomed and an open‑door policy is maintained. The curriculum follows an emergent, Montessori‑based approach that aligns with the Aistear and Siolta early years frameworks. Children work in a prepared environment with freely chosen materials, encouraging independence, confidence and self‑directed learning. The programme incorporates practical life, sensorial, language, culture, maths, as well as arts and crafts, music, yoga, baking and gardening. A substantial outdoor area enhances daily learning, featuring a natural garden, sand pit, sensory garden, climbing and balance zones, a bug motel, planting beds and a willow dome, together with age‑appropriate toys, bikes and playhouses. The centre participates in the ECCE grant, providing three free hours per day for eligible children, and also offers private places for those not qualifying for the grant. Parents receive regular newsletters, photos and invitations to events such as Christmas and summer parties, fostering a strong partnership between home and school.
