Louisburgh Childcare is a community‑run organisation that has been providing early years services for 40 years. Based in a purpose‑built facility at Cairde Caher, the centre places a strong emphasis on inclusion, welcoming all children – whether local families or newcomers – to its programmes. The service operates from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm each day, offering full‑day childcare for children from one year up to school age. The premises include a dedicated sleep room and hot meals are provided, ensuring a safe, comfortable environment that meets children’s nutritional and rest needs. In addition to the full‑day creche, Louisburgh Childcare runs a Playschool (ECCE) programme for school‑age children, delivered in two daily sessions. The ECCE provision offers two free years of early childhood education, utilising the Aistear and Siolta frameworks to support children’s well‑being, identity, communication and thinking. During school holidays, the centre also organises full‑day and half‑day camps at Louisburgh Primary School for all primary‑school‑aged children, extending its community focus beyond the regular term. The centre’s ethos is grounded in diversity, equality and the rights of the child. Staff are recruited through a rigorous selection process to ensure professionalism and experience. The curriculum aligns with the Aistear Early Childhood Curriculum Framework and complies with the Childcare Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016 and the National Standards for Preschools. Safety, hygiene and open communication with parents are prioritised, with daily feedback and ongoing updates on policies and procedures.
