About
Macroom Family Resource Centre is a community‑based voluntary organisation situated in Macroom, County Cork. It aims to promote and develop family support services across the Macroom area and its hinterland, with a particular focus on the most disadvantaged families. The centre works in partnership with individuals, groups and local agencies to improve social, economic and educational outcomes for the community.
The centre provides a full range of childcare services for children from three months of age up to the start of school, including an after‑schools service that incorporates collection. In addition to early years care, the centre offers a comprehensive counselling programme and non‑formal education for both adults and children, supporting personal development and lifelong learning. These services are delivered within a supportive, family‑centred environment that encourages participation and empowerment.
Funding for the centre comes from the Irish Government and is partially co‑financed by European Union Structural Funds under the National Development Plan 2000‑2006. This financial backing enables the centre to maintain a broad suite of services that address the holistic needs of families, from early childhood care to community development initiatives.
