Naíolann na n Oileán

Coláiste na nOileán is an Irish‑language college situated in the heart of the Connemara Gaeltacht, approximately 35 miles west of Galway City. With more than 50 years of experience, the centre combines traditional teaching methods with contemporary educational techniques to provide an immersive, language‑rich environment for teenagers aged 14‑16. Learners spend their days engaged in a varied programme that includes beach and sport games, music sessions, and themed céilí evenings, all conducted through Irish to reinforce language skills while fostering a deep appreciation of Irish culture. The college also offers a safe, homely boarding setting where students are accommodated in local family‑run houses and served nutritious, home‑cooked meals. Daily life is enriched with cultural activities such as traditional music, dance, and crafts, as well as organised excursions to the Aran Islands, the Twelve Bens mountains and the historic streets of Galway. These experiences aim to develop confidence in the language, strengthen cultural identity and create lasting memories for each participant.
