About
Outdoor Explorers Pre‑school offers a free, outdoor‑focused early years programme for children aged three to five years, complemented by a full indoor facility. The centre runs structured morning sessions (8:30 am–11:30 am or 8:45 am–11:45 am) and afternoon sessions (12:30 pm–3:30 pm), allowing families to choose part‑day attendance that suits their needs. Children are grouped by age‑appropriate themes such as the Owl, Penguin and Duckling groups, each providing a safe, nurturing environment for play and learning.
The preschool follows a child‑emergent curriculum aligned with the Aistear and Siolta frameworks, encouraging learning through children’s natural interests and the surrounding outdoor environment. Emphasis is placed on developing social and emotional skills, self‑care habits (toileting, dressing, and independent outdoor play), problem‑solving, and risk assessment. Daily activities promote physical development, coordination, balance and confidence, while sensory play, exploration games and occasional farm‑animal visits enrich the children’s connection with nature.
Outdoor Explorers aims to prepare children for their future school career by fostering self‑esteem, independence and a love of learning in a safe, outdoor‑centric setting. The programme supports inclusive practice, ensuring that children of all abilities can engage fully in the community and benefit from the healthful, nature‑based approach to early childhood education.
