Slí Burca Childcare provides a sessional, play‑based preschool service for children from 2½ years old, alongside a part‑time after‑school programme for children up to 12 years. Operating as a community service for 46 weeks a year, the centre delivers a safe, supportive environment where children are encouraged to be creative, develop social skills and build positive relationships. The preschool runs weekdays from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, offering child‑directed play, developmentally appropriate activities and both indoor and outdoor learning spaces that develop gross and fine motor skills. The after‑school service operates from 1:10 pm to 6:00 pm, with a morning drop‑off at 7:45 am and a pick‑up service from local schools. During school holidays, full‑day care is available. The curriculum follows the Aistear framework, emphasising play as the foundation for communication, self‑regulation and wellbeing. It blends free‑play, educator‑led and child‑led experiences, promotes community involvement and respects the diversity of each child and family. The purpose‑built premises feature an enclosed outdoor play area and a large indoor room divided into interest zones such as a home corner, construction area, book corner, relaxing area and art & activity spaces. All staff are fully qualified, and the centre participates in national schemes such as the National Childcare Scheme (NCS), Community Childcare Subvention Plus (CCSP) and the free Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) programme.
