Square One (Tus Maith Naionra)

Square One is Kilkenny’s longest‑standing privately owned full‑day childcare centre, operating since 1996. Originally launched as a Montessori classroom for four children, the service has grown while retaining a homely, nurturing atmosphere within a purpose‑built premises. The centre caters for children from 12 months up to 12 years, offering a blend of early years education and after‑school provision. A strong emphasis is placed on “child‑first” care, with low child‑to‑staff ratios, an open‑door policy for parents, and a consistent senior team that brings decades of experience to the setting. The facility provides a structured day that begins at 8:00 am with a Breakfast Club, followed by a preschool session from 9:15 am to 12:15 pm. Full‑day children receive a hot, nutritionally balanced lunch prepared by an on‑site chef, and the afternoon programme includes age‑appropriate activities, tea time and free play, all complemented by regular outdoor play. Square One is Tusla‑registered, a member of Early Childhood Ireland, and also runs a dedicated Irish‑language Naíonra (Tus Maith Naíonra) approved by Forbairt Naíonra Teoranta, supporting early immersion in Gaeilge.
