Williamstown Community Childcare Centre CLG was founded in 2002 to meet a clear demand for affordable, high‑quality childcare in Waterford City and its surrounding areas. Initially operating from a small council house in St Catherine’s Grange and offering morning sessions only, the centre moved to purpose‑built premises in 2007, expanding its capacity and facilities. The centre was created through a partnership of local residents, community organisations and residents’ associations, and it now serves families from the wider community, with a particular focus on those experiencing poverty and social exclusion. The centre’s ethos is built around respect, inclusion and cultural sensitivity. Its curriculum follows the Aistear Early Childhood Curriculum Framework and aligns with the national quality framework ‘Síolta’, adhering to its twelve quality principles and sixteen standards. Emphasis is placed on the child’s voice, wellbeing, identity, communication, and thinking, delivered in a nurturing, fun and caring environment. Core values such as engagement, respect, transparent communication, integrity, commitment to excellence and being a quality employer underpin daily practice, ensuring a supportive atmosphere for children, parents and staff alike.
