About
Presentation Convent Junior School is a co‑educational Catholic primary school in Mullingar, County Westmeath, serving children from Junior Infants to Second Class. The school provides a holistic education that nurtures spiritual, moral, cognitive, emotional, imaginative, aesthetic, social and physical development. Its curriculum follows the Primary Schools’ Curriculum and is delivered by a highly experienced professional team who embed the values of kindness, respect and responsibility in everyday learning. The ethos is summed up in the motto “Together Everybody Achieves More” (TEAM), encouraging partnership between pupils, staff and parents to help each child reach their full potential. The junior school benefits from the wider Presentation Mullingar campus, which includes modern classrooms equipped with a wide range of educational software, two astroturf pitches marked for basketball and football, a large concert hall with a stage, and extensive PE equipment. These facilities support a vibrant programme of sport, music, drama and outdoor activities, fostering a safe, secure and meaningful learning environment. While rooted in a Catholic tradition, the school welcomes children of all faiths and backgrounds, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion for pupils with special educational needs.
History
The Presentation Sisters arrived in Mullingar in 1825 and founded the present junior school as part of their long‑standing service to the town and surrounding area. The senior school was later established in 1957, continuing the Presentation ethos and values inherited from the founding sisters.
