Ballycahill National School is a co‑educational, Catholic primary school that aims to provide a well‑ordered, caring, happy and secure environment for its pupils. The school’s ethos recognises the intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs of each child, while also respecting the beliefs of families from other religions. A strong emphasis is placed on building self‑esteem, fostering respect for people and property, and encouraging personal responsibility. The curriculum is supported by a range of extracurricular provisions, including a morning club and a homework club, and is delivered across four classroom settings – Junior, Middle, Senior and a Special Educational Needs (SET) class. Staff development is prioritised through regular professional programmes, and the school actively promotes gender equity among both pupils and staff. Parents are welcomed as partners in education through home‑school communication and participation in the Parents Association. The school also encourages the use of the Irish language, reflecting its commitment to cultural heritage.
