About

Ballygiblin National School is a co‑educational, Catholic primary school situated just outside Mitchelstown on the Ballyporeen Road, adjacent to the Ballygiblin GAA pitch. The school embraces a child‑centred ethos, guided by the motto *Mol an Óige agus Tiocfaidh Sí*, and aims to nurture the full and balanced development of every pupil – spiritually, emotionally, intellectually and physically. A strong partnership with parents, families and the wider community underpins a supportive, inclusive environment where children feel safe, respected and encouraged to reach their potential. The curriculum is delivered through a hands‑on, skills‑based approach that integrates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) across learning. Each classroom is equipped with an interactive screen and shared iPads, and the school runs dedicated Learning Labs, VEX Robotics projects and AI‑enhanced tools to foster creativity, problem‑solving and collaboration. Physical wellbeing and creativity are woven into daily life via participation in the Active School Flag, Green Schools and Health‑Promoting Schools programmes, as well as a wide range of extracurricular activities such as hurling, swimming, music workshops and school quizzes. Pupil voice is championed through a Student Council, Active School Committee and a House Points system, giving children meaningful roles in shaping their school community.
