About

St. Colman’s National School (Scoil Cholmáin) is a mixed, mainstream primary school in Cloyne, Co. Cork, operating under a Catholic ethos while welcoming children of all faiths. The school provides education from Junior Infants to 6th Class, fostering holistic development across intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural dimensions. A caring, inclusive atmosphere is promoted, with an emphasis on self‑esteem, confidence and respect. The curriculum is delivered by a dedicated staff team committed to continuous professional development and to encouraging parental involvement in school life. The campus comprises the original 1972 building, a major extension completed in 2009 and refurbishment of the older section in 2010, with further expansion planned. Facilities support a strong tradition of Gaelic games, particularly hurling, and the school participates annually in the Sciath na Scol. A commemorative planting at the back of the school honours the legendary hurler Christy Ring. The school operates as a Health‑Promoting School, follows a healthy eating policy, and maintains a uniform and tracksuit dress code. It serves a pupil population of roughly 321 (September 2019).
