About

Scoil San Isadóir, Boherlahan is a rural mixed primary school situated in the picturesque village of Boherlahan, roughly three miles from the historic town of Cashel in County Tipperary. The school caters for children from Junior Infants through to Sixth Class, providing a full primary curriculum within a close‑knit community setting. With an enrolment of around 124 pupils, the school is staffed by a team of five teachers, supported by special‑needs assistants, a part‑time secretary and caretaker, ensuring a low pupil‑to‑staff ratio and personalised attention for each learner. The school places a strong emphasis on holistic development, offering a variety of extracurricular activities that complement classroom learning. Recent programmes have included swimming, yoga, cycling, and participation in Catholic Schools Week events such as Grandparents’ Day. These activities, together with regular sports and cultural events, aim to foster physical wellbeing, social skills and a sense of community among pupils. The school’s active community involvement is further reflected in its vibrant news updates and engagement with parents through events and communication channels.

History

The school was first established in 1834 and registered in 1840 as Nodstown National School, later known as Boherlahan NS. After the demolition of the original building in 1969, the school operated temporarily from the parish hall. It subsequently amalgamated with Ardmayle NS and reopened as St Isidore’s National School in 1971.
