About
St Patrick’s National School is a co‑educational Catholic primary school located in the rural community of Leitrim, Corlough. The school prides itself on being an inviting, inclusive and vibrant environment where the whole community works together to achieve the best outcomes for every child. While its overriding aim is to nurture Christian values, the school also recognises and respects pupils of other faiths or none, fostering a spirit of partnership with parents, the parish and the wider local community. The curriculum follows the Department of Education and Skills’ Primary School Curriculum, enriched by a strong emphasis on numeracy, literacy and STEAM projects. A 2021 grant under the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan enabled the upgrade of computing devices and software, helping to bridge the digital divide for learners at risk of educational disadvantage. The school day begins at 9:10 am with a structured timetable that includes a short morning break, a hot lunch provision, and staggered dismissal times for junior/senior infants (2 pm) and other classes (3 pm). Discipline is guided by a rewards‑focused approach, and robust policies on safeguarding, attendance, bullying and health and safety underpin a caring and safe learning environment.
