About

Newtowngore National School is a small, vibrant rural primary school under Church of Ireland patronage, welcoming children of all faiths and none. Set in a picturesque location on the Newtowngore/Carrigallen road near the County Cavan border, the school benefits from spacious grounds that include a grass pitch and a newly‑installed rope‑adventure trail, providing ample opportunities for outdoor learning and play. The school serves a wide catchment area encompassing Kildallon, Corrawallen, Newtowngore and Killegar, and enjoys strong, long‑standing community support. The educational ethos centres on a broad, balanced curriculum that encourages pupils to “try their best” and become comfortable with themselves. Emphasis is placed on developing confident, self‑motivated and socially responsible individuals who can contribute positively to the community. Communication with parents is fostered through homework diaries, phone contact, and regular newsletters, while after‑school care is provided onsite by Drumreilly Community Afterschool (1.50 pm‑2.50 pm) with optional extended care at the community centre. Facilities are complemented by a modern 1983‑era building, well‑maintained uniform standards, and reliable school transport for families living more than 3.2 km away. The school’s schedule runs from 9.10 am to 2.50 pm, with structured breaks and a focus on safe, inclusive learning environments.
