School Details
About
Scoil Mhuire Rockcorry is a small, rural primary school situated in the picturesque village of Rockcorry, County Monaghan. The school caters for approximately 76 pupils across four mainstream classes and provides additional learning support through dedicated support and resource teachers. In September 2025 the school moved into a brand‑new, purpose‑built facility on the original site, offering modern classrooms, specialist learning areas and improved accessibility, which enhances the learning environment for both mainstream and support‑needs students. The school’s educational ethos centres on inclusivity and the development of each child’s full potential. A strong emphasis is placed on a balanced curriculum that integrates academic learning with personal, social and emotional development, supported by policies such as the Bí Cineálta (Be Kind) framework. Healthy eating initiatives, a clear COVID‑19 response plan and a range of extracurricular activities further contribute to a nurturing, community‑focused atmosphere that prepares pupils for the next stage of their education.
History
Scoil Mhuire was established in 1970 through the amalgamation of Edraguil National School and Corravacan National School. Since its founding, the school has served the Rockcorry community, evolving from its original premises to a state‑of‑the‑art building opened in September 2025.
