About

Coláiste Nano Nagle is a voluntary Catholic secondary school for girls situated on Sexton Street in the heart of Limerick city. As a CEIST‑affiliated institution founded in the tradition of the Presentation Sisters, the school places a strong emphasis on spiritual and human development alongside academic achievement. The ethos centres on respect for every person, fostering a sense of justice, responsibility and community within a supportive learning environment. The curriculum offers a broad range of subjects across the Junior Cycle, Transition Year, Senior Cycle and Leaving Certificate Applied programmes, allowing students to pursue their interests and develop a well‑rounded skill set. Modern facilities include dedicated classrooms, specialist laboratories, a laptop initiative for digital learning, and dedicated spaces for extracurricular activities such as the Homework Club, Jigsaw One Good School programme and supervised study. Comprehensive student supports – including wellbeing resources, online learning tools and guidance services – ensure that each learner receives personalised assistance to reach their full potential.

History

The school was officially established as a secondary school in 1955 by the Presentation Sisters, although its roots extend further back in the history of Catholic education in Limerick. Since its foundation, Coláiste Nano Nagle has been recognised for flexibility and curricular innovation, introducing programmes such as Community Based Learning, the Senior Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied and a laptop initiative to cater for diverse learning styles. The school continues to adopt a person‑centred approach, striving to enable every student to achieve their highest potential.
