About
Drumshanbo Vocational School (DVS) is a co‑educational post‑primary institution serving the Drumshanbo community and surrounding areas. The school delivers a broad curriculum that encompasses the Junior Certificate, Transition Year, Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP) and Leaving Certificate Applied, alongside a range of evening classes for adult learners. Its educational philosophy stresses the development of intellectual, curricular, physical, social and personal dimensions, with a strong pastoral care framework that nurtures spiritual growth and encourages students to discover and build on their individual strengths. The school places a high priority on extra‑curricular provision, offering a variety of sports such as volleyball, Gaelic football and other GAA activities, as well as clubs and societies that enrich the student experience. Modern facilities support both academic and practical learning, and the school maintains up‑to‑date resources including a downloadable prospectus and school calendar. Communication with families is facilitated through regular letters, newsletters and an active presence on social media. A clear strategic direction is set out in the School Plan (2016‑2020) and the school’s policies are publicly accessible, reflecting a commitment to transparency, safeguarding and continuous improvement. The school community—students, parents, staff and local partners—works collaboratively to foster an environment where learners become confident, responsible adults ready to contribute to society.
