About

Beaufort College is a multi‑denominational, co‑educational second‑level school situated on Trim Road in Navan, County Meath. Operating under the patronage of the Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB), the college serves approximately 770 pupils and aims to provide a caring, inclusive learning environment where every student is encouraged to achieve their personal best. The school’s ethos is encapsulated in the motto *Ready, Respectful, Responsible*, reflecting a commitment to academic excellence, strong pastoral care and the development of responsible citizenship. The college benefits from recent and ongoing building programmes: a major extension and refurbishment completed in summer 2018, and a further expansion approved by the Department of Education to increase capacity to around 1 000 pupils, including a four‑classroom Special Needs Unit. Facilities include a fully stocked library with a full‑time librarian, a range of sports and extracurricular clubs (GAA, soccer, basketball, volleyball, chess, drama, music and more), and extensive student support services such as a Home‑School Community Liaison Teacher, a School Completion Programme and a Behaviour for Learning Programme. As a DEIS school, Beaufort College implements targeted plans for attendance, attainment, retention and progression, ensuring equality of opportunity for all learners.

History

Beaufort College was established as a co‑educational, state‑funded secondary school under the trusteeship of the LMETB. In the summer of 2016 the school began a major building extension and refurbishment, which was completed in summer 2018. A subsequent Department of Education‑approved extension, commenced in the 2021/2022 academic year, will increase capacity to approximately 1 000 pupils and add a four‑classroom Special Needs Unit. The school’s development reflects its response to the growing population of Navan and its commitment to providing modern facilities for a diverse student body.
