About
Tullamore College is a post‑primary institution that strives to create a secure, caring environment founded on respect. Its mission emphasises self‑belief and a love of learning as the drivers of excellence, encouraging pupils to develop confidence and a lifelong passion for education. The school offers a broad curriculum with a focus on personalised learning, supported by a strong pastoral system that ensures each student’s potential is maximised. The college’s organisational structure places the individual learner at its centre. Every class is overseen by a dedicated class tutor who works closely with a year head, while the principal, deputy principal, guidance counsellors, home‑school liaison and an active student council provide additional layers of support. Parents are actively involved through a well‑established Parents’ Council, reinforcing the collaborative ethos of the school. Modern facilities, refreshed in 2017, complement the historic campus, which originated as one of the twelve World Bank schools built in 1974, offering contemporary learning spaces, specialist rooms and resources such as the Post‑Primary Book Scheme.
History
The school was founded in 1902 and was initially situated in part of the current Courthouse building. It moved to O’Connor Square in 1930 and then to its present campus in 1974. The original 1974 building was one of twelve World Bank schools constructed around the country. The current facilities were completed in 2017.
