About

Mohill Community College is a co‑educational second‑level institution situated in Convent Lane, Mohill, County Leitrim. Operating under the joint trusteeship of the Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board and CEIST (Catholic Education an Irish Schools Trust), the college delivers a broad, inclusive curriculum that aligns with the Department of Education and Skills guidelines. The school’s mission is to foster a caring, disciplined environment that respects cultural diversity and encourages students to pursue excellence, enjoy learning and develop their full potential as individuals and citizens. Emphasis is placed on holistic development, with programmes that support academic, social, physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual growth, and a strong focus on digital media literacy and the integration of technology across learning. The college’s purpose‑built campus, designed for up to 525 pupils, boasts a range of specialist facilities including a competition‑size sports hall, three science laboratories, a design and communications graphics suite, wood and metal technology workshops, and dedicated special‑education rooms. ICT provision is extensive, with three computer suites (one a language laboratory), a laptop trolley for senior students, and classroom‑wide computers, projectors and visualisers, all supported by high‑speed broadband and Wi‑Fi. A well‑resourced library, music and drama rooms, and a variety of extracurricular clubs further enrich the student experience, while a robust pastoral care system ensures wellbeing and support for every learner.

History

Mohill Community College opened in September 2008 following the amalgamation of Marian College (1949–2008) and Mohill Vocational School (1932–2008). Initially operating from two sites, the college moved to a new state‑of‑the‑art building on 9 March 2009. The school is governed locally by a Board of Management under the joint trusteeship of the Mercy Sisters, Western Province and the Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board.
