About
Asdee National School is a Catholic co‑educational primary school located on the scenic Shannon Estuary in North Kerry. It serves a close‑knit community of approximately 55 pupils, organised into multi‑class groups that are adjusted each year according to enrolment numbers. The school day begins at 9:50 am, with junior and senior classes finishing at 1:30 pm and all other classes at 2:30 pm, providing a structured routine that supports both academic learning and personal development. The school offers a range of enrichment programmes, including a morning and after‑school club run on the school grounds by an external provider, free provision of all textbooks under the Department of Education scheme, and complimentary hot meals for all children from June 2024. A strong emphasis is placed on language learning, with French taught for two years and a pilot German programme introduced for senior classes in the 2025/2026 academic year. Commitment to holistic education is further demonstrated through participation in Green Schools, Health‑Promoting School, STEM awards, and Active School initiatives, earning multiple flags and plaques for environmental stewardship, scientific engagement and physical education.
