About
Aughrim National School is a co‑educational, Roman Catholic primary school situated in the heart of Aughrim, operating under the patronage of the Archbishop of Dublin. The school adopts a child‑centred ethos, striving to create a safe, comfortable and happy environment where pupils are encouraged to develop kindness, independence, resilience and a love of learning. The curriculum places strong emphasis on achieving solid foundations in literacy and numeracy while also nurturing broader curricular interests appropriate to each child’s age and ability. The school accommodates nine mainstream classrooms and provides specialised support for children with autism, with plans to open a second dedicated autism class in September 2025. Facilities include a spacious playground equipped with tarmacadam courts and grass pitches, supporting both structured and free‑play activities. An active Parents’ Association and a dedicated Board of Management work closely with staff to foster a dynamic relationship with the local community, reinforcing the school’s inclusive and supportive character.
