About
Ballinacarriga National School is a mixed primary school located to the south‑east of Dunmanway. The school provides a welcoming environment for roughly 97 pupils, supported by a team of classroom teachers, a special education teacher, a visiting teacher, special needs assistants and administrative staff. The curriculum is centred on the Primary Curriculum Framework and the new mathematics programme for the 2025/26 academic year, with a strong emphasis on wellbeing, kindness and respect. The school offers a broad range of extra‑curricular activities. Pupils can take part in a variety of sports—including football, hurling, camogie, rugby, gymnastics, swimming, dance, basketball and soccer—and have earned five Green Flags together with Junior Entrepreneur, Active and Amber Flags. Cultural and creative pursuits such as debating, drama, quizzes, yoga, meditation, tin whistle, guitar, and Christmas productions further enrich the student experience. Facilities support these programmes, and the school maintains a vibrant community spirit through regular events and projects throughout the year.
