About
Ballintleva National School is a co‑educational, Catholic primary school situated in the rural south of County Roscommon. The school provides a well‑ordered, caring and happy environment where pupils’ intellectual, spiritual, physical, moral and cultural needs are actively addressed. Learning is delivered through an activity‑based, interactive approach that tailors education to each child’s particular needs, encouraging curiosity, responsibility and respect for people and property. The school places a strong emphasis on gender equity, the professional development of staff and the involvement of parents through regular home‑school contact and parent‑teacher meetings. The campus was completely refurbished in 2010, offering modern classrooms and dedicated spaces for a wide range of extracurricular activities, from physical education to science discovery programmes. The school’s crest reflects its heritage and community, featuring a cross, a Romanesque arch, and a quill and scroll, with the colours primrose, blue, green and red symbolising the catchment area across the parishes of Dysart and Cam. The motto, “We grow as people when we do our best,” underpins the school’s commitment to nurturing confident, well‑rounded individuals.
