About

Ballymoney National School is a small, co‑educational primary school located in the village of Ballineen, West Cork. With a roll of 25 pupils aged four to thirteen, the school operates a combined junior classroom for Junior Infants to Second Class and a senior classroom for Third to Sixth Class. Funded by the Department of Education and Skills and supported by parental fundraising, the school is under the patronage of the Church of Ireland Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross and managed by a Board of Management. The school places a strong emphasis on holistic development, offering a wide range of extracurricular activities such as swimming, dancing, chess, gardening, hockey, debating, soccer, rapping, choral singing and cycling. Environmental stewardship is integral, with recycling programmes, a wormery for food waste, and a vegetable garden that benefits from compost. Ballymoney NS has been recognised for academic excellence, winning nine Discover Primary Science and Maths Awards of Excellence and achieving its second Green Flag for Water, with work underway on a third Green Flag for Travel. Weekly assemblies with the local Rev. and participation in parish carol services further embed community values.
