About
Belmayne Educate Together National School is a co‑educational, equality‑based primary school that delivers the Irish National Curriculum within an inclusive, child‑centred ethos. The school emphasises a balanced education that nurtures each pupil’s academic, social and cultural development, celebrating diversity while giving particular attention to Irish language and heritage. Learning is enhanced through exploration of different cultures, fostering respect for the relationship between home, school and the wider community. The campus features a state‑of‑the‑art Astro‑turf pitch surrounded by a two‑lane running track, providing safe, year‑round outdoor sport for GAA, soccer and athletics programmes. A range of voluntary after‑school clubs supports interests from physical health to information technology, and the school’s modern facilities enable a vibrant, supportive environment where every child can thrive.
History
Belmayne Educate Together National School opened in September 2008 after a dedicated parent start‑up group secured a temporary site along the Mayne River. The founding team included Principal Sinéad Ní Mheara and Deputy Principal Fiona Ní Ghloinn, with staff expanding in the second year. As an equality‑based, democratically‑run institution under the Educate Together patronage, the school follows the National Curriculum and offers a variety of after‑school clubs. In term 3 of the 2018/19 academic year the school moved from its temporary building to a brand‑new permanent facility. By the 2024/25 school year enrolment stood at 206 boys and 212 girls, reflecting its ongoing commitment to inclusive education.
