About

Curraghboy National School is a Catholic primary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Elphin and operates in accordance with the rules of the Department of Education & Skills. Situated in the village of Curraghboy, County Roscommon, the school is conveniently located ten minutes from Monksland, Athlone and fifteen minutes from Roscommon town. The campus benefits from extensive playing grounds and a recently extended building, providing ample indoor and outdoor space for both academic and recreational activities. A newly established Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) classroom, opened in September 2025, demonstrates the school’s commitment to inclusive education and specialised support for pupils with additional needs. The school day begins at 9:20 am, with doors opening at 9:15 am, and finishes at 2:00 pm for Junior and Senior Infants and 3:00 pm for all other classes. A structured timetable includes a 10‑minute mid‑morning break at 11:00 am and a lunchtime from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm. An Early Supervision Club, run by Clonark Childcare, provides care from 08:15 am to 09:25 am for the 2025/2026 academic year. The school promotes a healthy eating policy, encouraging substantial, nutritious lunches, the use of reusable drink containers, and the composting of organic waste, while restricting fizzy drinks, crisps and sweets. Homework is assigned to reinforce learning, typically four nights per week, with an emphasis on balance and parental support.
