About
Carrigaline Educate Together National School is an inclusive primary school that embraces the Educate Together ethos of “no child an outsider”. The school delivers a holistic curriculum that blends the Irish National Curriculum with the Learn Together Ethical Education programme, encouraging pupils to explore morality, spirituality, equality, justice, belief systems and environmental stewardship. Learning is child‑centred and discovery‑based, with play used as a core teaching methodology to foster creativity, critical thinking and a love of learning. The school operates as a democratic partnership between parents, staff and the wider community, placing relationships at the heart of its work. A strong emphasis is placed on student voice, safety and wellbeing, ensuring that every child feels happy, confident and respected. Since moving into its permanent Kilnagleary premises in 2013, the school provides modern classroom facilities for over 400 pupils, supported by a dedicated team of teachers and ancillary staff, and offers a vibrant environment for both academic and personal development.
History
Carrigaline Educate Together National School opened its doors on 1 September 2008 in the Carrigaline A.F.C. Clubhouse on Ballea Road. After a year of rapid growth it relocated to temporary accommodation in Rosemount, Herons Wood, and in January 2012 moved senior classes to Portgate Business Park. Building works for a permanent home began in February 2013, and the school officially opened its Kilnagleary campus on 2 September 2013. From an initial enrolment of 14 students and two teachers, the school now serves over 400 pupils with a staff of more than 30. The current Board of Management was constituted in December 2023.
