Carrigtwohill Community College is a recently established second‑level school operating under the co‑patronage of the Cork Education and Training Board and the Diocese of Cloyne. Since opening its doors in August 2016, the college has grown from an initial cohort of forty‑three first‑year students to a modern institution capable of accommodating up to one thousand learners in its state‑of‑the‑art building on Station Road, which was occupied in February 2024. The college’s educational philosophy centres on a community of teaching and learning where every pupil is given equal opportunity to reach their full potential. A balanced and varied curriculum is designed to meet academic, personal and social needs, underpinned by Christian values of compassion and respect. A dedicated, innovative staff provide a safe, inclusive environment that encourages leadership, talent development and confidence‑building. Beyond the classroom, a broad extra‑curricular programme offers sport, music, art and design, debating and other activities, ensuring that students can pursue a wide range of interests. Strong partnerships with students, parents, the local community, Cork ETB and the Diocese further enrich the learning experience.
History
Carrigtwohill Community College opened in August 2016 with forty‑three first‑year students under the patronage of Cork Education and Training Board and the Diocese of Cloyne. In February 2024 the college relocated to a new, purpose‑built facility on Station Road, Carrigtwohill, which can accommodate up to 1,000 students. The school’s core value is to foster a community of teaching and learning that promotes equal opportunity, talent nurturing, and positive relationships, guided by Christian principles of compassion and respect.
