About
Castlebar Primary School is a vibrant, co‑educational primary school operating across two campuses in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. The Junior Campus on The Lawn welcomes children from Junior Infants to First Class and provides specialised support through dedicated Language and Autism classes. The Senior Campus on Chapel Street serves pupils from Second to Sixth Class, offering a broad curriculum that builds on the foundations laid in the junior years. The school places a strong emphasis on creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment, underpinned by modern infrastructure such as high‑speed broadband delivered through the Department of Education’s School Broadband Programme. Recent investment has also secured an AstroTurf pitch, enhancing the range of physical‑education facilities available to students. Partnerships with parents and the wider community are encouraged, fostering a collaborative atmosphere that supports each child’s academic, social and personal development.
History
Castlebar Primary School was formed through the merger of the former St Angela’s Girls’ and St Patrick’s Boys’ National Schools and opened its doors in September 2022.
