About
Citywest & Saggart Community National School is a state‑funded, co‑educational, multi‑denominational primary school operating under the patronage of the Dublin and Dun Laoighaire Education and Training Board. Since opening its doors in 2012, the school has expanded to provide a full‑range curriculum for children from infants through to 6th class, including two dedicated autism classes introduced in 2020. The school’s vision is to create a safe, calm, respectful and inclusive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to develop the skills needed to reach their full potential in both school and wider society. The educational approach is firmly child‑centred, prioritising the holistic development of each learner. In line with the national curriculum, the school delivers the unique “Goodness Me! Goodness You!” Religious Education programme, a multi‑belief, story‑based curriculum that supports reflection on personal experiences. Embracing innovative teaching methodologies and modern pedagogical practices, the school fosters a vibrant, collaborative atmosphere that celebrates diversity, promotes empathy and strengthens the partnership between families and the local community.
History
Citywest & Saggart Community National School opened in September 2012, initially offering Junior Infants as a vertical school with the intention of growing to accommodate pupils up to 6th class. Over the years the school has expanded its enrolment and facilities, adding two autism classes in 2020 and continually developing its inclusive ethos and community‑focused programmes.
