About

Clonkeen College is a voluntary, non‑fee‑paying boys’ secondary school founded by the Christian Brothers in 1967. It serves approximately 575 pupils and employs around 40 teachers, offering a comprehensive curriculum that includes the Junior Cycle, Senior Cycle, Transition Year and the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP). The college is situated within the trusteeship of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust and promotes a disciplined yet supportive atmosphere that nurtures academic excellence, Christian values and the development of individual talents. Modern facilities, including a recently installed solar array, underpin a forward‑looking learning environment, while a wide range of extra‑curricular and co‑curricular activities encourage students to engage fully with sport, arts and community initiatives. The school’s ethos is centred on creating a caring, inclusive community where each student can thrive socially and academically. Structured pastoral care is provided through Year Heads, a Guidance Counsellor and a Student Council that gives pupils a voice in school governance. Strong links with parents via an active Parent Association and a transparent Board of Management further reinforce the collaborative spirit of the college.
