About

Clonpriest National School is a rural primary school serving the Youghal Parish community. It offers a broad, balanced curriculum that follows the Primary School Curriculum, providing pupils with opportunities to develop academically, socially and creatively. The school places a strong emphasis on nurturing individual talents, with extracurricular programmes that include Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) teams, music and singing groups, quiz clubs and participation in Science Week events. The campus features spacious, modern classrooms and well‑maintained outdoor areas that support active learning and play. Recent building projects have expanded the facilities, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for children. The school works closely with parents, the local Montessori preschool, the St Ita’s GAA club and community organisations, fostering partnerships that enrich the educational experience and promote a sense of belonging within the local area.

History

Clonpriest National School originated as a mixed national school in 1902, with separate sections for boys and girls. Over the years the school has undergone major building projects in 1989, 2007 and most recently in the summer of 2018, modernising its facilities while retaining its historic roots in the heart of Gortroe.
