About
Cloonfad National School is a Roman Catholic primary school located in the heart of Cloonfad village, County Roscommon, adjacent to the community centre and St Patrick’s Church. Under the patronage of the Bishop of Tuam, the school embraces a Catholic ethos while respecting the rights and beliefs of every individual, creating an inclusive environment for pupils of all denominations. The school’s educational approach focuses on nurturing each child spiritually, socially and academically. It recognises every pupil as a unique individual with distinct interests, talents and abilities, and provides a safe, caring community where children are encouraged to reach their full potential. Through a balanced curriculum and a supportive learning atmosphere, Cloonfad NS aims to develop confident, well‑rounded learners who are prepared for the challenges of later life.
History
Cloonfad National School opened its doors in its present location in September 1966. Since then the school has grown and evolved, benefitting from the dedication and vision of successive staff members and Boards of Management. This legacy continues to shape the school’s role within the local community and informs its ongoing commitment to nurturing future generations.
