About

Cobh Mixed National School is a small, three‑teacher primary school situated in the Belle‑Vue area of Cobh, County Cork. It caters for children from Infants through to 6th class, currently with around 15 pupils on roll. The school places a strong emphasis on individualised learning, benefitting from low teacher‑to‑pupil ratios and a full‑time Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher who supports inclusive education. Every child is provided with an IT device, enabling the integration of digital resources across the curriculum and fostering modern learning skills. The school’s ethos is rooted in a Christian, whole‑child approach, seeking to develop pupils cognitively, intellectually, physically, culturally, morally and spiritually. It promotes a nurturing and caring environment, with particular focus on music, drama and wellbeing. Community involvement is encouraged through partnerships with parents, local organisations and the wider community. Cobh Mixed National School is an active school, valuing physical activity and offering STEM experiences such as kit‑based engineering projects. It has earned three Green Flags and its first Health‑Promoting School flag, and is working towards an Active Flag, reflecting its commitment to health, sustainability and active lifestyles. The historic premises date from the early 1880s when they served as the parish school for the United Parishes of Cobh and Glanmire. Over the years the buildings have been progressively modernised, providing an attractive and functional learning environment while retaining a sense of heritage.
