About
St. Patrick’s National School, Cornanool is a small, three‑teacher, co‑educational primary school that operates within a Catholic ethos. The school serves children from Junior Infants through to Sixth Class, offering a balanced curriculum that integrates digital literacy across all year groups. Modern communication is facilitated through the Aladdin Connect system, allowing parents to contact staff directly and stay informed about school life. The school is actively developing its learning environment, with two new classrooms and a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SET) room currently under construction. A hot‑meals scheme ensures that pupils receive nutritious lunches, and a school bus service provides safe transport for those living further afield. Strong community ties are evident through partnerships with Islandeady GAA Club, Castlebar Mitchells GAA Club and Snugboro Soccer Club, enriching the extracurricular programme. Upon completion of primary education, most pupils progress to local post‑primary institutions such as St Gerald’s, Davitt College and St Joseph’s in Castlebar.
History
