About
Daingean National School is a co‑educational Catholic primary school located in the heart of Daingean, County Offaly. It provides education for children aged 4 to 12, from Junior Infants through to Sixth Class, with a current enrolment of approximately 265 pupils. The school places a strong emphasis on inclusive education, operating two dedicated classes for pupils diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and participating in the Rural DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) programme, which underpins its commitment to educational inclusion and equal opportunity for all learners. The learning environment is supported by a team of nineteen teachers, eleven special needs assistants, and additional support staff, ensuring a low pupil‑to‑staff ratio. Beyond the core curriculum, Daingean N.S. promotes holistic development through a vibrant programme of extracurricular activities, including Irish dancing, music, sport (GAA, basketball, athletics, gymnastics, cycling) and wellbeing initiatives such as Wellbeing Week. Regular community events, such as Christmas carol services and performances, foster strong ties between the school, families and the wider community.
