About

Dublin 7 Educate Together National School (D7ET) is a multi‑denominational, co‑educational primary school that follows the Educate Together ethos of child‑centred, democratic education. The school places the well‑being and individual development of each pupil at the heart of its practice, encouraging active participation in decision‑making and fostering an inclusive environment where gender stereotyping is challenged and every child is equally welcome. Learning is delivered through a collaborative approach that values parental involvement, the professional expertise of staff, and a broad curriculum that includes sports, music and the arts. Since moving into its purpose‑built, three‑stream campus in Grangegorman in 2023, the school benefits from modern facilities set within the Technological University Dublin grounds. The premises feature spacious classrooms, including two bright “colourful” prefab rooms for the senior classes, a large yard and playing field, and panoramic views of Dublin’s landmarks. These resources support a vibrant school life that balances academic rigour with extracurricular activities, ensuring a well‑rounded education for all pupils.

History

Ireland’s first Educate Together school began in 1978 as The Dalkey School Project, aiming to create a multi‑cultural, child‑centred, co‑educational setting. D7ET itself opened in September 2000 with 47 pupils and three teachers in a Georgian house on Henrietta Street, rented from the King’s Inn. In 2002 the school relocated to St Joseph’s, Cabra, and in 2009 moved to Fitzwilliam Place North on the TU Dublin campus. A prefab addition for sixth‑class classrooms was installed in 2019. The permanent, purpose‑designed building on the Grangegorman campus was completed and occupied in June 2023.
