Edmund Rice College Dublin is a co‑educational Catholic voluntary secondary school serving the Carpenterstown and Castleknock communities. Operating under the patronage of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust, the college delivers a broad, balanced curriculum that blends academic rigour with a strong emphasis on personal development and community values. The school’s ethos is built around the core values of Generosity, Compassion, Faith and Courage, fostering a caring environment where pupils are encouraged to reach their full potential both in the classroom and through a wide range of extra‑curricular activities, including sport, clubs, and a dedicated Transition Year programme. Although the college initially opened in temporary accommodation at the end of August 2017, it is preparing to move into state‑of‑the‑art facilities that will further enhance learning spaces, technology integration and sporting provisions. Modern resources such as school‑issued iPads and a robust e‑learning platform support innovative teaching methods, while the school’s commitment to a positive, inclusive atmosphere aims to nurture confidence, resilience and a lifelong love of learning.
History
Edmund Rice College Dublin opened its doors to students at the end of August 2017, becoming the first new Edmund Rice school established in Dublin since 1972. The college was founded to serve the growing demand for Catholic secondary education in the Carpenterstown and Castleknock areas and has since developed a reputation for academic excellence and community engagement.
