The school’s curriculum is underpinned by a commitment to nurturing each pupil’s potential within a caring and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging students to excel academically while also engaging in personal, social and spiritual growth. As a member of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust (ERST), the college embraces the Trust’s ethos of equality of access, partnership and transformational leadership. It promotes a high standard of teaching and learning alongside a strong sporting tradition, Gaelic cultural activities and a dedication to social justice. The five key elements of the ERST Charter—nurturing faith, fostering partnership, excelling in teaching and learning, creating a caring community and inspiring leadership—guide the school’s approach to developing well‑rounded, responsible citizens who are prepared to meet the challenges of a changing world.
History
Edmund Rice College welcomed its first cohort of students in September 2016, becoming the newest and most modern secondary school in Carrigaline. The permanent school building was completed in April 2017. The school was created in response to strong local demand for a new second‑level institution, with the community selecting a Catholic voluntary secondary model that caters for both girls and boys. Operating under the trusteeship of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust, the college draws on a long tradition of Irish Catholic education while striving to deliver the highest standards of learning and pastoral care.
