About
Scoil Eoin Baisde Cailiní Naoidh, locally known as Belgrove Infant Girls’ School, is an all‑girls infant school catering for pupils from Junior Infants to First Class. The school operates under the patronage of the Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin and is part of the larger Belgrove campus, which includes three other schools. Its educational philosophy centres on providing a safe, happy and stimulating environment where each child feels valued and inspired to reach her full potential. The motto “Is deas a bheith óg” – “It is nice to be young” – reflects the emphasis on kindness, care and a supportive atmosphere. Recent investment has modernised the facilities: classroom walls and cloakrooms have been removed to create larger learning spaces, the whole building has been rewired and equipped with Wi‑Fi, and a former library has been split into a dedicated library and a SET (Science, Engineering, Technology) room. An outdoor classroom, a newly overhauled garden, and a quiet space repurposed from the old photocopying room further enhance experiential learning. The school also runs a buddy‑class system with the neighbouring senior school to ease transition, and participates in Active School, Green School and STEM programmes to promote holistic development.
History
The school is one of four on the Belgrove campus and has been governed by a Board of Management chaired by Peter Gallogly. Over the past few years, substantial renovation projects funded by Department of Education grant aid and parent‑led fundraising have expanded classrooms, upgraded technology, and created new specialist spaces such as the SET room, outdoor classroom and garden. These developments reflect the school’s ongoing commitment to providing modern, child‑centred facilities.
