About
Fermoy Educate Together National School is a co‑educational primary school that opened its doors in August 2018, offering an inclusive, child‑centred curriculum under the Educate Together patronage. The school’s ethos prioritises equality, diversity and the holistic development of each pupil, aiming to foster curiosity, critical thinking and a love of learning. It seeks to provide a supportive environment where children can thrive academically, socially and emotionally, guided by clearly defined goals, objectives and priorities that are shared on its website. The school initially operated from temporary premises in the Fermoy Community Youth Centre before relocating in late 2019 to a renovated section of the Cork Education & Training building on McCurtain Street. This purpose‑built space includes four modern classrooms on the lower ground floor with a separate entrance off Waterloo Lane, offering a safe and accessible learning environment. The facilities are designed to accommodate a growing junior cohort while supporting a range of educational activities and community engagement.
History
Fermoy Educate Together National School was established following a Department of Education poll of pre‑school parents in the Fermoy catchment area, who selected the Educate Together patronage. In June 2018, Minister for Education & Skills Richard Bruton announced the school’s opening. The school officially opened on 27 August 2018, initially housed in the Fermoy Community Youth Centre. In August/September 2019 it moved to a renovated portion of the Cork Education & Training building on McCurtain Street, gaining a dedicated entrance off Waterloo Lane and four classrooms on the lower ground floor.
